new year, new job

Kim and I start our new position January 15, 2007. It will be a big change for our schedules, there are more 8 hour shifts than 12 hour shifts. That will be good for my sleep! We now have 40 hours a week of lactation coverage and Kim and I will be sharing those hours as co-coordinators.

Here is a knitting picture. Fraser likes my partially completed cable scarf. He has good taste, the yarn is malibrigo.

ok, i am still here and even have a christmas tree

Well, it doesn't look like there will be any snow for Christmas. That is ok with me. To those of you who read the deleted post, I have improved my mood and attitude somewhat and am trying to be more positive... it is a work in progress.

So, we went with Joseph and Lily to see Santa. Right up until the time they called Lily's name, she kept saying she was going to see him and sit on his lap. When it was the kid's turn, she got the deer in the headlight look and it was all over. As we left Santa, there was a mailbox for letters to the North Pole. Lily liked that Santa!.

Joseph sang in front of his church, along with several other children his age. The video is great, he sings but doesn't do any of the hand motions. The song was "Away in a Manger".

William flew in today. Katie and the kids are in Kentucky. I am working the holiday weekend and the holiday.
Soon it will be a New Year!

another thursday...

making some headway on the crochet/knit projects! you may notice the blanket is pink, the baby is going to be a girl. i am about half way done with the blanket but i decided to put some stripes together to see what it would look like (and to feel like i was making progress). the cat hat is not as quick, but i am going to be focusing on it now, and get it done. it has gotten cool here in the northeast.

my parents left after being here for 2 weeks. it didn't seem like 2 weeks, the time went by quickly. the kids, and all of us, miss them being here. so here are some more pics of them and the kids...

thursday must be blog day...

another week has come and gone. of note, i got my DIPLOMA in the mail. i guess that means i am graduated! i am busy with working, reading, crocheting and knitting. my parents are here for 2 weeks to help katie with the grandkids, or great-grandkids to them, and all are having a good time. we went to rockland and saw the store that supports the puffin project, watched a movie and let the kids climb all in a burrow. check it out at http://www.projectpuffin.org/.

we made some caramel apples for desert last night. joseph and lily are enjoying dipping theirs. as far as eating, joseph did pretty good, lily just licked off the caramel. she knows what is the good stuff!

finally got started on the cat hat. have 1 ear flap done and am figuring out the cast on for making the hat in the round, upside down. i did it one time, but lost what i wrote down for directions and since it is backward from the original pattern, i need some planning before i get there! i also found a sweater pattern that i have been searching for. my grandmother made me a fisherman's knit sweater years ago, needless to say, over the years i have gotten slightly larger and even though i can still wear it, it is a little snug...so i was looking and looking for something like it. i have to give the credit to chesley at http://www.knittingexperience.com because she knew what i was looking for and emailed me when a new book arrived that had a similar sweater in it. louisa harding had a children's sweater that was just what i was looking for, but no adult instructions. her new book arrived at chesley's shop and there was the adult size. thanks, chesley! when shall i start??? and more importantly, can i finish it???

projects

time got away from me, but then again, what is new?! i have lots of potential knitting projects and took a couple pictures to show the yarn i am most excited about. the pink and furry is for a CAT HAT! i got a special request to make one for a friend's daughter. i may even start on that tonight when i am at knit at night at my lys, the knitting experience cafe. the pink and yellow is the lorna's laces for some lacy socks!

also, here is the baby blanket in progress. it won't be pink and blue and white. just white and the appropriate baby color. since the parents don't know the gender yet, or if they do, i don't! i am making both pink and blue strips and then will have another half of a blanket in the works...planning ahead. so unlike me.

well, i took the leap and sent my application in for midwifery school. i was hoping for the november class, but the deadline slipped by me, see it is that planning ahead thing again. they said go ahead and send it in and if there is room, and if they want me, they will put me in. if not, the january class is not too long after that... i found that yesterday, trying to get in the mail, my karma was all wrong. first, i couldn't find my nursing license, then, when i finally found it and got to the post office, instead of overnight, the earliest they could guarentee it to get there was friday after 3pm. so, i bet it will be monday before anyone sees it. the little black cloud does like to find me.

oh and happy columbus day, even though he really wasn't the first one here... and in case you didn't notice, i have major issues with getting the pictures to be a cute arrangement. maybe one day i will do better...
